Travel from the airport
- Brussels National Airport is situated in Zaventem, between Leuven and Brussels.
- The airport railway station is located in the underground (level -1) of the terminal building itself. There is a direct link from the airport in Zaventem to Leuven (or Louvain) (do not take the train to “Louvain-la-Neuve”).
- Schedule information for the airport city express and the whole of Belgium (and international trains) is available on the Belgian Railways (SNCB/NMBS) website. Enter Brussels Airport as the departure or destination station. Approximate journey times:
Leuven: 20 minutes (do not take the train to “Louvain-la-Neuve”)
- Brussels South Charleroi Airport is located near the town of Charleroi, in the South of Belgium.
- Take the shuttle bus which leaves the airport every hour. The destination of the shuttle bus is “Brussels South/Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi” railway station. Journey time to Brussels is about 45 to 60 minutes. The bus will stop at the crossing of “Rue de France” and “Rue de l’Instruction” near the train station Brussels South/Midi. Tickets for the shuttle bus are sold inside the airport terminal.
- From Brussels South/Midi railway station you can take a direct train to Leuven (or Louvain) (do not take the train to “Louvain-la-Neuve”). Train timetables can be found on the Belgian Railways (SNCB/NMBS) website.
Travel by train
- International trains arrive in "Brussels South/Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi" or in Liège. From there, you can take a national train to Leuven (do not take the train to “Louvain-la-Neuve”, as this will not bring you to Leuven, but to the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Ottignies).
